sandy wood (Goalkeeper)
Local lad, Sandy returned to Links Park last summer for a third spell with the club and made his first start in a CIS Cup match at Dens Park against Dundee. He last played for the club during season 2005/06 when he was on loan from Celtic by previous manager Eddie Wolecki. After his release by Celtic Sandy joined Forfar Athletic where he spent two seasons picking up a few end of season awards. He started his career with Stonehaven youth before being spotted by Aberdeen. After being released by the Dons he was quickly signed up by Montrose in 2003. His form in the Montrose U/18 side saw him move to Celtic that same year for a four-figure fee. After leaving Station Park at the end of season 2007/08 he had a spell out of the game due to a knee injury but returned to play for Glenrothes and Tayport last season from where he was signed by former manager Steven Tweed. Age 25.

Alan Campbell (Centre half)
Alan moved to Links Park in the summer of 2009 from Carnoustie Panmure. He picked up the Directors Player of the Year and Players Player of the Year trophies in season 2009/10 and was again Directors Player of the Year in 2010/11. He was spotted playing junior football with Scone Thistle and was quickly snapped up by Arbroath manager John McGlashan spent two seasons with Arbroath having a couple of loan spells with Carnoustie Panmure. After being released by Arbroath he joined Carnoustie in April 2009. Strong and powerful central defender who can also play at right and left back. Alan has made over seventy appearances for the club. Age 26.

Douglas joined Montrose in October 2010 after a spell in Australia playing for Sunshine George Cross. The 28 year old started his career with his home town team Dundee and made over 100 appearances for the Dark Blues in a three year period at Dens Park. He then went on to have three spells at Peterhead, a loan at Forfar Athletic and a two year spell at East Fife, where he was a team-mate of Steven Tweed as they won the third division title in 2007/08. Douglas can play at either left back, central or left midfield. His father Kenny was once the manager of Montrose during a successful spell in the 1970’s. He hasn’t missed a match since joining the club and signed a new contract in the summer.

Club captain Stephen was signed after two matches as a trialist against Stranraer and East Stirlingshire in January 2010. Stephen made his debut as a signed player in the 2 – 0 win at Berwick Rangers on January 30th and was in the side who played Hibernian the following week. The 27 year old was Forfar Athletics’ longest serving player joining in February 2007 from Peterhead after a six-year spell with Dundee. Was an ever present after signing and played in 20 matches scoring once against Annan Athletic in April 2010. Has well as playing in defence Stephen has also turned out with effect as a midfielder for Montrose. Has now made over 50 appearances for the club.

Jonathan crawford (Midfield)
20 year old versatile player who joined Montrose in September 2010 after a successful trial match against Albion Rovers. Jonathan who can play at right back, centre half or midfield was released by Aberdeen in the summer of 2010. He made his Aberdeen debut in season 2009/10 as a substitute against Hamilton Accies on August 22nd before going out on loan to Peterhead. Whilst at Pittodrie Jonathan was called in the Scotland Under 19 squad that included Danny Wilson now of Liverpool, John Fleck (Rangers) and David Wotherspoon (Hibernian). Jonathan who was out for a long spell last season with a knee injury signed a new one year contract in the summer and is currently playing in the centre of midfield.

Terry joined Montrose in June 2010 from junior side Carnoustie Panmure. He played for both Dundee and Dundee United before the 21 year old moved to his home town side Arbroath. He spent two seasons at Gayfield making 4 starts and 16 substitute appearances before moving to Carnoustie Panmure. Brechin City brought Masson on board for the final stages of season 2009/10 and Masson was regular off the bench as the Glebe Park side reached the Play-Off Final. Terry picked up a knee injury on his Montrose debut at Dens Park against Dundee and didn’t play again until January 2011. Made 17 appearances for the club last season scoring three times in the final six games of the season.

Jamie joined Montrose in July 2011 from junior side Broughty Athletic. He started his career with Leeds United in 2003 but didn’t break into the first team. In the Christmas 2005 transfer window he moved to Aberdeen for whom he made 19 appearances for scoring once against Celtic in a 3 – 1 defeat. He spent the second half of 2005/06 season on loan to St Johnstone. After leaving Aberdeen in signed for Chesterfield in July 2007 making nearly 50 appearances in his two years at the club. After returning to his home city of Dundee at the end of his contract Jamie had an unsuccessful spell in the Highland League with Formartine United. Jamie joined Broughty Ahletic last season and scored 17 goals from midfield. It was this form that alerted him to Ray Farningham and after a successful pre season trail he joined Montrose on a one year contract. He scored on his debut against Raith Rovers at Links Park on 30th July. Age 26.

LLOYD YOUNG (Midfield)
Montrose have completed the signing of Lloyd Young on loan from East Fife until 7th January 2012.
Midfielder Lloyd signed for East Fife in January 2007 from Tayport Juniors after winning a junior cup medal and is East Fife’s longest serving player. Previous clubs are Lochee Harp and Raith Rovers.
Lloyd scored against Montrose in the 6 - 1 victory for East Fife at the start of the season. He made his Montrose debut on Saturday in the 1 - 1 draw with Alloa Athletic.

PAUL LUNAN (Midfield)
28 year old Paul joined Montrose in July 2011 from junior side Dundee Violet after spending a spell out of the senior game due to work commitments. Lunan was spotted playing for West End Boys in Dundee by then Forfar Athletic youth manager Gordon Wallace. He established himself in the Forfar Athletic first team under Neil Cooper and made his debut in September 2001. A versatile player he can play almost anywhere across the back or in midfield. He was a favourite with the Forfar fans making over 170 appearances scoring twenty goals before moving to Arbroath in 2008. He rejoined Forfar Athletic last summer before his move to Dundee Violet.

18 year old Scottish Schoolboy internationalist Martin made his debut for Montrose as a substitute at Easter Road against Hibernian in January 2009 whilst aged only 16. In season 2009/10 he played for Scotland Schoolboys against Republic of Ireland, Wales, Ireland and England. Scoring the Scotland goal in the 4 – 1 defeat against England at Carlisle in a match televised by Sky. Martin was top scorer for the Montrose Under 17 in season 2009/10 and also finished 20010/11 as top scorer in the Under 19 side. Once scored six times in an Under 19 fixture against Airdrie United in 2010. He has a great turn of pace and skill and is deadly in the penalty box. Signed a professional contract in August 2010 and scored his first goal for the first team in a 8 – 1 victory over Clyde in September 2010. He followed that up by scoring the winner against Arbroath in the Scottish Cup and ended the season with four goals. Signed a new deal in the summer and will be looking for a regular place in the starting eleven.

Garry wood (Forward)
In January 2012 Montrose moved into the transfer market to complete the signing of striker Garry Wood who had been released by Ross County. The 23 year old Aberdeen based player had a spell on loan to Montrose in season 2007/08 when he scored eleven goals in 27 + 4 appearances, scoring in the play off semi final against Stranraer. Garry then left to return to Inverness Caledonian Thistle where he spent a season playing in the Scottish Premier League. After leaving Inverness he went on sign for Ross County and made his debut against Montrose in the League Cup. He spent two seasons at Dingwall and scored a hat trick in the Scottish Cup against Stirling Albion. After suffering an injury in pre season he spent a short time on loan at Peterhead playing against Montrose in our 2 – 1 win in October.

Scott Johnston (Forward)
After a successful trial match in the pre season victory over Stenhousemuir, Dundee based striker Scott was snapped up by manager Ray Farningham despite interest from Alloa Athletic. Scott had spent the last two seasons with East Stirlingshire and was a virtual ever present last season. He started his career with Dundee FC at youth level before joining junior side Forfar West End where he came to the attention of Shire manager Jim McNally. Scott turned down fresh terms with East Stirlingshire to join Montrose. Can also play in midfield if required.



Combines the role of assistant manager with that of goalkeeping coaching. Stuart has had a lengthy career as a goalkeeper with Brechin City then Forfar Athletic before trying his luck in England with Notts County. Returned to Scotland to play with Ross County before retiring with a knee injury. Went on to coach at Inverness Caledonian Thistle before his move to Montrose in summer 2010.


GEORGE SHIELDS (First Team Coach)
As well as being first team coach George is also head of youth development at Links Park. Recently George has been in charge of junior side Dundee Violet.
